After working in the NHS for over 14 years, Sandra opened her own private practice in April 2005. She has a wealth of experience in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions gained during her time working for Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust where she held a senior position at Mill Hill Community Health Centre for 8 years, and prior to starting the Gatehouse she was Team Leader for Outpatient Physiotherapy at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. This involved managing 38 members of staff at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and six outlying sites in the Huddersfield Area.
Sandra is a great believer in self management, she says “the body has a wonderful capacity to heal itself, sometimes it just needs a bit of help along the way”, hence her business logo of ‘helping your body to help itself’.
Sandra has attended a wide range of courses during her career, and has had specialist training in spinal conditions, and dynamic stability. She is qualified in acupuncture which she has been practising for 14 years. She has a personal interest in the Alexander technique which she brings into her treatment sessions, especially in relation to postural problems.
Sandra is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapist in Private Practice and The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapist. She is also registered with the Health Professions Council. She keeps an ongoing file for her continuous professional development and reflective practice, and keeps up to date with new developments by constantly reading articles and literature as well as frequently attending relevant courses.
Sandra is now a fully qualified Reiki Master and is planning to start training others soon in this gentle, yet profound healing therapy.
